Laughter Specialists - Swish Event

20th March 2019

The laughter specialists are teaming up with “the costume company” , “mirror image “ and “Muse makeup “co hosting something called a “swish” party lead by a professional image and style consultant Claire Causton.

Most of us are wearing 20% of our clothes 80% of the time, clothes are left languishing at the back of the wardrobe or even still in their bags with labels on. Banish the guilt of holding on to these unworn and unloved clothes by donating them to the laughter specialists charity @ Swish!

A Smile a Mile

Saturday 23rd March (9-5pm)

The Laughter Specialists have ‘A Smile a Mile’ event taking place all day on Saturday 23rd March, in Saffron Walden centre, raising awareness and money for The Laughter Specialists, spearheaded by Kerinda Trigg who is running the London Marathon for our benefit.

The Laughter Specialists - A Smile a Mile

Kerinda’s London Marathon 2019

The amazing Kerinda Trigg will be running the 2019 Virgin London Marathon to raise money for the Laughter Specialists.

This is one of the biggest challenges that anyone can take on. It is an incredible feat to accomplish, especially for a mum of young children as I am sure many of you will appreciate.

The Laughter Specialists Charitable Trust bring our own special blend of laughter and care to some very poorly children and their families, in many hospitals around the area. Hospital life can be traumatic and lonely but The Laughter Specialists brighten the lives of those children.

The Laughter Specialists also visit a variety of schools for children with special needs and autism, reaching out to children and teenagers that need laughter in their lives, relieving their stress and anxiety, and opening doors to enhance their communication.

We are so excited for Kerinda’s challenge and we will be supporting her throughout.

Click here to donate and show Kerinda that you are supporting her in this event, and our charity.

Dr Rob Ross Russell

“We are seriously delighted to announce that Dr Rob Ross Russell, a Consultant Paediatrician at Addenbrookes, has agreed to become a Patron of The Laughter Specialists. This is a massive coup for us and the note below gives you insight into the experience he has of what we do alongside how passionately he feels about the work we do for all sick and vulnerable children across East Anglia .. a great day, a great future! Take a read….

Dr Rob Ross Russell“As a consultant paediatrician at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, I know how hard it is for children to be stuck at the hospital. For some it is just a visit to the clinic – which itself can be a difficult or traumatic episode – but for many it is an inpatient stay on the wards. Many children are in for just a few days but for some the stay can be very lengthy. Children with cancer, or following major trauma. Children with learning difficulties or facing major surgery or with long-term conditions like diabetes or cystic fibrosis. For them and their families time passes slowly, and they are often a long way from the friends and even family.

Dr Russell, consultant paediatrician at Addenbrooke’s Hospital

Annie and Patrick address this with their work. They visit these children, and use their skills to bring laughter and smiles to the children and their families. And it is not just light-hearted fun – it works. People have now studied the effect of clowning on the health and recovery of children in hospital and demonstrated that it helps.

This was the conclusion of one big analysis that reviewed all the published data on the effect of laughter: We found that hospital clowns play a significant role in reducing stress and anxiety levels in children admitted to hospitals as well as their parents. (Eur J Pediatr (2016) 175:1353–1360)

So we know it works, and we know that it is not part of routine NHS funding – so we rely on charities like the Laughter Specialists to help provide this important care. I would encourage you all to support this great team of dedicated people in their important work.”

Sponsorship Contained!

We are delighted to announce that Containerlift of Dunmow, Essex, have agreed to sponsor The Laughter Specialists to the tune of £5000 in 2017. Of course, we are ecstatic in knowing this will help us diversify across the region and we look forward to working with them to raise our profiles and come together to celebrate the unison at many planned events across the year. Managing Director, Joost Baker, said “we are extremely proud to be supporting such a wonderful cause.”
